Office of Academic Labor Relations

The Office of Academic Labor Relations is part of the Office of the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs.  We are responsible for managing university-wide academic labor relations and supporting academic units on all three campuses with regard to faculty personnel matters.  Our office can assist with topics including the administration of the collective negotiations agreements covering academic personnel; faculty grievance procedures; faculty appointments, reappointments, and promotions; academic personnel matters; Teaching Assistants and Graduate Assistants; Part-Time Lecturers; Postdoctoral Associates and Fellows; Winter and Summer Instructors; faculty retirement issues; faculty leave issues and disability services for faculty.

Please visit the Academic Appointments Manual developed and maintained by our office.  The manual compiles and explains the various university policies, collective negotiations agreements, and procedures applicable to academic personnel.

Our office also administers the Academic Personnel Certificate Program which provides employees responsible for administering academic personnel matters with the essential knowledge, skills, and abilities to effectively recruit, appoint, and reappoint all types of academic personnel.  Participants will gain thorough knowledge of the university policies, procedures and contractual provisions pertaining to academic personnel.

Please let us know if you have any questions or comments concerning our website, and do not hesitate to contact us with any questions related to academic personnel matters.

Sincerely,

The Staff of the Office of Academic Labor Relations
